Celebrating 30 Years of Lochranza Distillery

  • Submitted by: Kenneth Gibson, Cunninghame North, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 11 July 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-18286

That the Parliament congratulates Lochranza Distillery, on the Isle of Arran, on its 30th anniversary, marking three decades since spirit first flowed through its copper stills on 29 June 1995; acknowledges the vision and determination of Isle of Arran Distillers in reviving whisky production on the island after more than 150 years, during a period when many distilleries across Scotland were closing; recognises the distillery’s commitment to traditional methods, including non-chill filtration and natural colour, which has resulted in the production of award-winning single malts; notes the global recognition received by both the Lochranza and Lagg distilleries, including the upcoming release of Lochranza’s first 30-year-old single malt, distilled in its founding year and limited to just 300 bottles; celebrates the distillery’s contribution to the local economy, tourism and Scotland’s international reputation for whisky excellence, and wishes the entire team continued success in the years ahead as they build on this proud legacy.
