  • Date lodged: Thursday, 03 July 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-18219

That the Parliament congratulates Dalbeattie Community Initiative’s (DCI) Rocks and Wheels project on its First View celebration day, when it showcased the community-led project; understands that the project will redevelop the grade C-listed former Dalbeattie Primary School into a facility providing indoor bouldering, outdoor pump track, training courses, meeting rooms, a café and overnight accommodation; notes that DCI is a local charity that aims to promote social, economic and physical revival in the Dalbeattie area; further notes that local skills will be sourced to support the town’s commercial and service economy; understands that the site is located at the doorway to Dalbeattie’s award-winning 7stanes mountain bike trails, which offer some of the best mountain biking in the UK; further understands that the redevelopment cost of £7.2 million for renewal and renovation is funded through South of Scotland Enterprise, Dumfries and Galloway Council, the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and the Scottish Government Place Based Investment Programme; thanks all of the project team and volunteers who have participated in and led on establishing Rocks and Wheels, and wishes everyone every success going forward.
