That the Parliament congratulates the residents and staff of St Francis Care Home in Govan, Glasgow, on their inspiring achievement in completing a 10-week Italian language course, culminating in an SQA Level 2 qualification; recognises what it sees as the remarkable efforts of the residents, many of whom are in their late 80s and 90s and living with dementia, for embracing the joy of learning and participating in such a stimulating and inclusive activity; acknowledges the passionate teaching of Gloria Lattanzi and the valuable contribution of Lingo Flamingo, which specialises in language learning for older adults; understands that the project not only supported cognitive engagement, but also celebrated cultural identity, particularly for residents like Agnese Campopiano, a native Italian speaker, and Father George Gillespie, who served in Rome; notes the emotional and psychological benefits of the lessons, particularly for residents with memory impairments, and praises the care home’s wider commitment to dignity, wellbeing, and meaningful activity for all residents, and congratulates the activity coordinators and wider care team for organising a graduation ceremony to mark this heart-warming and uplifting achievement.
