Edinburgh Gilbert and Sullivan Society Directors Named in The King’s Birthday Honours 2025

That the Parliament congratulates Alan Borthwick and David Lyle, artistic director and musical director at the Edinburgh Gilbert and Sullivan Society (EDGAS), on being awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) as part of The King’s Birthday Honours 2025 for services to music; commends them for their hard work in the delivery of performances of the works of Sir WS Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan, working together at EDGAS for 35 years, until Alan’s retirement in 2024; hopes for the continued success of EDGAS during its production of Iolanthe in 2026, and congratulates Alan and David once more on their incredible achievement.
