Island Residents Recognised in The King's Birthday Honours List

That the Parliament congratulates the four Western Isles residents who have been recognised in The King’s Birthday Honours List 2025; understands that John and Lorna Norgrove, co-founders of the Linda Norgrove Foundation, have been appointed OBEs for services to women and children affected by conflict in Afghanistan; praises the positive work that the Linda Norgrove Foundation has undertaken in supporting a range of humanitarian and development projects; understands that John and Lorna established the Linda Norgrove Foundation in memory of their daughter, who was tragically killed in 2010 during a rescue attempt in eastern Afghanistan; further understands that Angus Campbell of Kilbride Shellfish Ltd, South Uist, has also been appointed an OBE for services to the Scottish fishing industry; commends Angus for his innovative and sustainable approach to shellfish farming, which, it believes, has had an enduring impact on the fishing industry in Scotland; understands that Donald John MacSween has been awarded the MBE for dedication to services within the Western Isles community; recognises that Donald John has previously served as a local councillor for Sgìre an Rubha, as well as holding significant leadership positions in the not-for-profit sector, including establishing Western Isles Foyer, an organisation that provides housing support for vulnerable young people; highlights Donald John’s contributions to national Gaelic development, having served as chief executive of An Comunn Gàidhealach, and congratulates all who received recognition in The King’s Birthday Honours List.
