That the Parliament recognises the 250th anniversary of Port Glasgow in 2025, marking the founding of the town through the Port Glasgow (Improvement) Act 1775; celebrates the efforts of local organisations and residents in creating a year-long programme of events that reflect what it considers to be the rich heritage and vibrant community spirit of Port Glasgow; commends the extended Comet Festival on 21-22 June, which includes the Port Glasgow 10K race, a heritage exhibition, and arts initiatives with local schools; notes the work of Port Glasgow 2025 (PG25), led by Kevin Green, in bringing the 250th anniversary to the fore locally; congratulates Kevin and his team for the work that they have done in Port Glasgow so far, including opening a community space for anyone to use in the town centre; welcomes the opportunity for local groups, communities, businesses and individuals to participate in events throughout the year, and encourages all residents, Portonians near and far, to take part in celebrating this significant milestone for the town.
