Making Tenants' Rights Real in Dundee

  • Submitted by: Maggie Chapman, North East Scotland, Scottish Green Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 11 June 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-17924

That the Parliament commends tenants across Dundee for organising and officially launching their branch of Living Rent in early June 2025; understands that Living Rent is a tenants’ union, which equips members with the skills and knowledge to fight against what it considers as unfair treatment and poor housing conditions; recognises the efforts that Living Rent organisers have made to improve rent controls in the Housing (Scotland) Bill; celebrates what it sees as the wins and progress that Living Rent branches have achieved, particularly at the local authority level, including, it understands, more money for local authority housing, overturning eviction notices, rent rebates and repairs from letting agencies, as well as furthering their engagement with other organisations influencing housing policy, and offers its best wishes to all those involved in the Living Rent Dundee branch with its ongoing work.
