Mossgreen Bell Returns to Churchyard Home

  • Submitted by: Annabelle Ewing, Cowdenbeath, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 03 June 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-17790

That the Parliament welcomes the return home of an historic bell with a special service of dedication being held to mark the occasion at Mossgreen Churchyard; understands that the bell has been kept in storage since Mossgreen Parish Church, built in 1853, was closed and demolished in 1960; acknowledges that the new iron framework, specially created by Arch Metals, which houses the bell has been modelled on the church’s original steeple, and believes that the reinstated bell provides an interesting connection to the area’s local history and a fitting focal point in the centre of Mossgreen cemetery.
