  • Submitted by: Dr Pam Gosal MBE, West Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 19 May 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-17483

That the Parliament congratulates the EKTA Group on its 25th anniversary; notes that the organisation was founded by Mrs Adarsh Khullar, who created the group to encourage the female members to be sociable, learn new skills, be self-sufficient and to take part in social and cultural events around the country, further introducing yoga workshops and NHS-supported initiatives; understands that a celebration dinner will take place in Glasgow on 25 May 2025; appreciates the efforts of the volunteers, who, it understands, have dedicated countless hours to evolve the group into a well-respected, community-based organisation, which has won several awards over the years; acknowledges the support that it provides in difficult subject areas including domestic violence, mental health and loneliness in BAME communities, and wishes everyone involved in the EKTA group, the very best of success for the future.
