Coreen Daly Retires from Kirkwall Grammar School Kitchen after 30 Years

  • Submitted by: Liam McArthur, Orkney Islands, Scottish Liberal Democrats.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 28 May 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-13350

That the Parliament pays tribute to Coreen Daley on her retirement as cook supervisor at Kirkwall Grammar School (KGS); notes that Coreen has worked in the kitchen at KGS for around 30 years, and has been cook supervisor for nearly 20 of those years; understands that, across her working life, Coreen has been responsible for four million meals, give or take, and providing meals for up to 900 pupils and staff daily; acknowledges the "A" class inspection record of KGS’s kitchen, which Coreen justifiably has described as "something I’m really proud of"; commends Coreen’s work during lockdown, when she and three other members of the KGS catering team went to help in the kitchens at the St Rognvald’s House Care Home; further commends Coreen for being a valued presence in the kitchen, which she describes as "a very happy place to work", and hopes that she is equally happy in her retirement.
