That the Parliament welcomes the launch in February 2024 of the Allanton, Edrom, and Whitsome Lego Club, for which the Lego was supplied by generous donations from local residents in Berwickshire, Roxburghshire, and North Northumberland; understands that the club was inspired by a small group of parents, who, in 2023, started hosting Lego playdates at each other’s homes, and has already supported over 30 children between three and 13 years old from Duns, Swinton and Chirnside primary schools, along with some children who are home-schooled; is encouraged to learn that a number of children with additional support needs (ASN) are flourishing in the club, which is open to all local children in the area and remains completely free; congratulates the children for using Lego and Duplo to construct buildings, animals, racing cars, and pirates, including many loved characters from Disney, Minecraft, Harry Potter, Star Wars and much more; welcomes that the club is working with parents in other local villages to set up their own Lego sessions; congratulates the children for showing off their creations at the Paxton House Lego Exhibition, where their models were displayed alongside professional models and seen by hundreds of people; thanks Paxton House for letting the club host a session during the school holiday for free; further thanks Allanton, Edrom and Whitsome Community Council for their support with the idea of the Lego Club, along with Councillor Aileen Orr for her guidance on setting up the project; thanks local resident and Community Councillor, Janie Orr, for leading the efforts to establish the club, and wishes the many individuals and organisations involved in launching this popular, socially beneficial recreation every success for the future.
