That the Parliament welcomes the news that a travelling stage show aiming to encourage children to take up interest in the performing arts is set to visit Clackmannanshire during May 2024; understands that the Primary Schools Tour, an award-winning roadshow by Scottish Opera, will set off in February from Flora Stevenson Primary School in Edinburgh to visit some of the country’s schools with the show entitled, Vikings! The Quest for the Dragon’s Treasure, which has been reimagined and expanded to make it accessible and adaptable for all schools in Scotland; further understands that as part of its long list of schools to visit, the Scottish Opera show will call in at Dollar Academy on 3 May 2024; understands that, for schools that are not on the list, Scottish Opera has redesigned the format to make it easier than ever for those schools to access a digital version of the show and that in doing so it aims to support music teaching in Scottish schools, which it believes has seen a sharp decline in recent years, and commends Scottish Opera on what it sees as this innovative and forward-thinking approach both to historical education and to music teaching.
