  • Submitted by: Liam McArthur, Orkney Islands, Scottish Liberal Democrats.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 25 January 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-11973

That the Parliament congratulates Orkney residents, Rachel Eunson, Director of Feverfew Garden Company, and Sacha Wright, owner of Practest, on being awarded £10,000 each by Scottish EDGE to develop their businesses in the islands; notes that Feverfew Garden Company, which launched in 2023 and is based in Deerness, is the UK's first functional gardenwear brand specifically designed for women; further notes that Practest, which will be based in Kirkwall, seeks to streamline patient care and increase efficiencies in primary services, through use of intelligent systems and AI-driven administration; recognises Scottish EDGE’s work to identify and support Scotland’s innovative entrepreneurial talent through a mixture of loan and grant awards, which it understands has supported the creation of over 3,500 jobs in Scotland since the scheme’s inception in 2014; commends Ms Eunson, Ms Wright, and all the winners of Scottish EDGE’s latest funding round, and wishes them all the best in their future endeavours.
