Dumfries and Galloway Youth Awards 2023

That the Parliament congratulates the nominees, winners and organisers of the 2023 Dumfries and Galloway Youth Awards, which took place on 23 November at Easterbrook Hall in Dumfries; acknowledges and commends Sports award winner Matilda Brockley, from Langholm, Dumfries, and Galloway Young Women’s Network for winning the Equality award, Maeve Reekie, of Maeve Reekie Makeup and Daydream Beauty, for winning the Young Enterprise and Business award, Mia Gray for winning the Young Change Maker award, and Helena Cochrane for winning the Culture, Arts and Entertainment award for her astronomy YouTube channel; congratulates Young Volunteer winner, Dylan Guenther, Unsung Hero award winner, Chelsay McDill, who, despite her own challenges, has cared for generations of her family, on top of her work with Let’s Get Sporty; further congratulates Group of the Year winners, Amazing Summer Camp Youth Leaders, who were also awarded Young Person of the Year in a live audience vote, Youth Worker of the Year (Paid), Lisa Martin, of Wigtownshire, and finally Volunteer or Volunteer-involving Organisation winner, Angie Gilmore, for working with a group of young people interested in photography and the arts; commends Dumfries and Galloway Youth Work for its engagement with young people across Dumfries and Galloway through delivering high-quality and sector-leading opportunities in the region, and wishes every one of the nominees and winners every success for the future.
