Success of the 2023 Dumfries and Galloway Life Awards

That the Parliament congratulates the winners and nominees of Dumfries and Galloway Life magazine’s 2023 Dumfries and Galloway Life Awards, which took place on 10 November 2023 at Easterbrook Hall in Dumfries; understands that hundreds of local businesses, individuals, third sector and community groups were nominated for awards for the fantastic work that they do across Dumfries and Galloway, and celebrates each and every nominee; notes that amongst those in receipt of awards was overall winner, and Business Person of the Year, Sandy Sweetman, the Judges’ Special Winner, Meta Maltman, Chair of Glentrool and Bargrennan Community Trust, for the trust's work to combat the global climate emergency, Solway Stars Juniors, which was named Sports Team of the Year, Cultural Champions, Mostly Ghostly, Visual Artist and Maker of the Year, Kate Anderson, Re:Dress Scotland, which was named Environment Champion, Young Community Champion, Edward Ryan, Community Champion, D. J. McDowall, The Furniture Project (Stranraer), which was named Community Project of the Year, Queen of the South Community Trust, which received Voluntary Group and Charity of the Year, Roucan Loch Crematorium and Woodland Burial Site, which was named Best Family Business and Garden Rooms (Scotland), which was named Independent Retailer of the Year; notes that there were many other worthy winners, and that a full list can be found on the Dumfries and Galloway Life webpage, dumfriesandgallowaylife.co.uk; thanks multi-award-winning Dumfries and Galloway Life magazine for continuing its annual awards ceremony to highlight the best in local businesses, the arts, community and the natural environment, and the many sponsors of the awards ceremony, and wishes all of the nominees and winners, and the team at Dumfries and Galloway Life magazine, the very best for the future.
