New Learning Hub for Harmeny Education Trust

  • Submitted by: Gordon MacDonald, Edinburgh Pentlands, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 09 November 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-11151

That the Parliament commends the success of Harmeny Education Trust and its Learning for Life Appeal after it raised over £3.2 million to fund the construction of a new secondary learning hub; notes that the charity, based in Balerno, can now offer its therapeutic residential care and education, for those aged between 14 and 18, for the first time in its history; understands that construction is now complete and that an event is being held on 24 November 2023 to mark the opening of the new learning facilities and to celebrate the support of the many individuals and organisations that have contributed to the appeal, and agrees with the vision, as set out by the charity, that “Harmeny is a place where remarkable children and young people have the love, encouragement and nourishment they need, to grow and reach their potential”.
