Launch of The Hearach Single Malt Whisky

That the Parliament congratulates the Isle of Harris Distillery on the launch of The Hearach, its highly anticipated single malt whisky; commends the Isle of Harris Distillery for its success since the distillery opened its doors in 2015; praises the distillery for what it sees as its significant and ongoing contribution to local employment, the economy and tourism on the Isle of Harris; understands that the number of staff working at the distillery has grown from 10 to 48 since it first opened; recognises the renown gained by the distillery over the past eight years for its Isle of Harris Gin, which has been made and then sold all over the globe, while its maiden whisky matured; acknowledges that the launch of The Hearach represents a key milestone in the distillery's story; understands that a launch celebration for The Hearach was held on 22 September 2023 at the distillery in Tarbert, followed by a community cèilidh; notes that the whisky will be released in batches of 12,000 bottles; understands that the first eight batches of The Hearach were released on 23 September 2023, and wishes the Isles of Harris Distillery the very best for the coming years, building on the success that it has already achieved.
