That the Parliament congratulates all the winners at Inverclyde Chamber of Commerce’s 2023 ICON Business Awards; understands that Gourock Golf Club won the award for Business Growth for its efforts to grow the sport by investing in its facilities and expanding access to golf for women; notes that The Porchlight by Mike Paul won the award for Entrepreneurism for its collaboration with other local businesses to offer a unique private dining experience at Ardgowan House; recognises that, in the Diversity category, Diodes was announced the winner for the support that it provides to its female staff to pursue careers in STEM, as the workforce within the sector has, it understands, historically been predominantly male; acknowledges that Inver Heat won the award for Skills Development, having taken on apprentices and sponsoring local sports groups; understands that the Inverclyde Shed won the Sustainability award for all of its activities that involve reusing or upcycling items, as well as its network of community gardens; notes that Safe Harbour was announced as the winner of the Health and Wellbeing award for the unique and person-centred mental health support that it provides to individuals with complex trauma; recognises that the award for Internationalism went to Deborah Murdoch for her commitment to producing hand-crafted luxury jewellery that draws inspiration from the rich history and heritage of Scotland, which has attracted buyers from the USA; acknowledges that Inverclyde Carers Centre came out on top in the Community Benefit category in recognition of its dedicated support service to unpaid carers in Inverclyde; understands that the Beacon Arts Centre was named winner of the Tourism award for its efforts to provide a rich and a varied programme of events and shows, which attract people from across the west of Scotland to the venue; further understands that, when it came to Business Resilience, the award went to Nicolson McShane Architects for how the team weathered the COVID-19 pandemic and the impact that it had upon the construction industry, which has allowed it to emerge stronger and navigate the challenge of inflation; congratulates Helen McCormick on receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award for her years of dedication and championing of local businesses throughout her career; believes that the ICON Business Awards provide a boost to the local businesses and charities, and provide a space for their achievements to be celebrated; applauds all those who were nominated, and thanks Inverclyde Chamber of Commerce for all of its work in the community.
