National Racehorse Week

  • Submitted by: Miles Briggs, Lothian, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 07 September 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-10361

That the Parliament celebrates National Racehorse Week from 9 to 17 September 2023, during which anyone can visit racing training yards, as part of a nationwide annual celebration of the racehorse; understands that National Racehorse Week is a unique opportunity for people to see first-hand the love, care and attention that goes into looking after these equine athletes; recognises what it sees as the high standards of horse welfare in the racing industry, and understands that this is an experience like no other, where over 15,000 free places have been created across Britain, in training yards, studs and retraining centres, including at five of Scotland’s excellent training establishments, to show the public what life as a racehorse is really like.
