That the Parliament congratulates Gillian Duffy from Greenock on being named Scottish Schools' Football Association (SSFA) President, making her the first female to take on the role; understands that Gillian, a former PE teacher who is now involved in the national girls U15s setup and actively encourages young players from Inverclyde to take up the sport, is also the youngest person to be appointed to the role of SSFA President; appreciates that Gillian has vowed to make her time as the SSFA President count by flying the flag for Inverclyde and the girls’ and women’s game; understands that when Gillian was SSFA vice president, she played a key role in organising 2022’s 50th anniversary match between Scotland and England at Ravenscraig in Greenock, and also brought 2023’s under-15s international tournament to Inverclyde for the first time; commends Gillian’s commitment to the sport, and wishes her all the best as she takes on this new role.
