  • Submitted by: Annie Wells, Glasgow, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 25 August 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-10214

That the Parliament congratulates Katie Smith on winning the first annual Collins Debden Graduate Award and will now go on to work with the Collins design team to apply the designs to diaries, notebooks and other stationery products; understands that Katie was inspired by the iconic Glasgow Art Deco restaurant, Rogano, and her family tradition of Christmas Eve visits there, for her designs; understands that the new collaboration between Collins Debden and Communication Design at the Glasgow School of Art has seen the creation of this very prestigious design award, which will result in a student’s design to be featured in Collins’ diary and stationery collection; acknowledges Katie Smith as the inaugural winner of this award, and notes that, in a show of appreciation for the rich history and prestigious legacy of both institutions, the winning design will highlight the unique cultural significance of Glasgow, where both Collins and the Glasgow School of Art were founded in the early 19th century.
