Nick Hennigan Runs 5K a Day in July in Memory of His Dad

  • Submitted by: Douglas Lumsden, North East Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 09 August 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-10071

That the Parliament congratulates Nick Hennigan on raising over £11,000 for the charity, Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM); notes that he achieved this by running 155km in July, with a 5K run every day, in memory of his dad, who died by suicide in 2020; understands that 125 people die by suicide every week in the UK and that 75% of those people are male; further understands that CALM is a prominent charity, which is leading a movement against suicide through life-saving services such as provoking conversation and bringing people together to reject living miserably; believes that Nick’s efforts will contribute to helping someone in the future, directly or indirectly, and wishes the very best for Nick and his family.
