Comrie and Son Scottish Craft Butcher Awards

  • Submitted by: Jim Fairlie, Perthshire South and Kinross-shire, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 02 June 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-09217

That the Parliament congratulates Comrie butchers, David Comrie and Son, on its success at the Scottish Craft Butcher Awards and the "Make it with Haggis" competition; understands that the family business won gold for its Highland chicken parcel and silver for its Highland truffle dishes, both of which contain homemade haggis, and a silver award for its steak and spring onion burger, pork and apple burger, venison and chorizo burger, lamb and curried mint burger, Cajun chicken burger and steak and smoked bacon burger; notes that, following a judging competition in Stirling last month, it was presented with the awards at the recent Scottish Craft Butchers trade fair in Perth; understands that the steak and smoked bacon burger is a recipe designed by P3 pupils at Morrison’s Academy in Crieff, in a collaboration with Murray Lauclan of David Comrie and Son, who had previously demonstrated to pupils how burgers are designed and made, and wishes Comrie and Son continued success in the future.
