The Spartans FC Secures Promotion to the Scottish League Two

  • Submitted by: Sue Webber, Lothian, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 02 June 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-09188

That the Parliament congratulates The Spartans FC on its historic promotion to the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) Scottish League Two, following its recent Pyramid play-off victory against Albion Rovers; further congratulates the North Edinburgh community club on its achievement not only in gaining promotion, but also on winning its record third Lowland League title in doing so; acknowledges that its promotion sees four Edinburgh clubs play in the SPFL for the first time since 1949, and celebrates the work that the club undertakes within the local community under the stewardship of its chairman, Craig Graham, and manager, Douglas Samuel, both within the football environment but also in tandem with the Spartans Community Football Academy charity, which, it understands, strives to be a force for good for all in North Edinburgh.
