PC Carly Fulton and Her Dog, Ben, Win the National Police Chiefs’ Council Dog Team of the Year Award at Crufts

That the Parliament congratulates PC Carly Fulton, who is from St Andrews in Fife, and her dog, Ben, on winning the National Police Chiefs’ Council Dog Team of the Year award; understands that PC Fulton and Ben received the honour at Crufts international dog show, held in Birmingham, and were presented the award by Chief Constable Pippa Mills, NPCC lead for police dogs; notes that six-year-old Ben is a Belgian Malinois and German Shephard cross-breed and has been trained as a general purpose dog, which includes helping to find missing people, tracking suspects and recovering evidence; believes that PC Fulton and Ben were nominated by Sergeant Iain McAlpine after their contribution to a missing person incident in Carluke, South Lanarkshire, in August 2022; understands that the police officer continued searching for a missing woman with her dog despite experiencing extensive injuries after breaking her heel bone and tearing ligaments in her foot; commends PC Fulton for her bravery and efforts to continue the search with Ben and, it understands, for successfully finding the missing woman and bringing her to safety despite her injuries; understands that PC Fulton required six months of rehabilitation for her injuries before she was fit to return to work; recognises PC Fulton and Ben’s incredible determination, hard work and dedication to crucial public service, and extends its very best wishes to PC Fulton and Ben for a full recovery and continued success.
