That the Parliament congratulates Deljeem Rai from Stornoway, Isle of Lewis, on his winning entry to the Portrait of Britain Photography Awards; recognises that his entry of a boy sitting on a ball came from a collection of photos depicting life in the Cearns, a social housing estate Deljeem grew up in after moving to the Isle of Lewis from Nepal, as a teenager; understands that the series of photos aimed to challenge pre-conceived ideas about the Cearns, which Deljeem sees as a close-knit community whose relationships are strong and whose support for one another is given without judgement; believes that Portrait of Britain is an award-winning nationwide photography exhibition, run by the British Journal of Photography, in partnership with JCDecaux; notes that the 99 winning portraits will be exhibited in a month-long exhibition on digital billboards and screens, alongside a book featuring the 200 shortlisted images, and wishes Deljeem continued success for the future.
