  • Submitted by: Douglas Ross, Highlands and Islands, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 28 October 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-06499

That the Parliament congratulates everyone involved in Forres in Bloom on winning Gold in the "medium town" category at the 2022 Beautiful Scotland Awards; recognises that the 2022 event celebrates environmental improvement, with more emphasis on permanent planting and supporting of wildlife; understands that the judges remarked on the obvious enthusiasm and pride of place of all those they met; further understands that the award is a reflection of the whole town and acknowledges the significant contributions made from the local primary and secondary schools and private residents alike; recognises the achievements of the volunteers over the years, who have won countless awards and accolades and have seen people come from far and wide to admire the displays; believes that this has resulted in Forres being known throughout Scotland as a must visit community; acknowledges the commitment and dedication of the volunteers for their tireless efforts to deliver outstanding floral displays in Grant Park and throughout the town, and wishes Forres every success as it now has the potential to go forward to represent Scotland in the UK-wide RHS Britain in Bloom Finals in 2023.
