Lord Mackay of Clashfern

That the Parliament understands that Lord Mackay of Clashfern will step down from the House of Lords in July 2022 at the age of 95; congratulates Lord Mackay on a distinguished career as a lawyer and politician; understands that after being called to the Scottish Bar in 1955 and appointed a QC in 1965, he served as the Dean of the Faculty of Advocates; notes that Lord Mackay was Lord Advocate from 1979 to 1984 when he was appointed Lord Appeal in Ordinary; understands that Lord Mackay was the first Scottish Advocate to be appointed Lord Chancellor, serving from 1987 to 1997; wishes Lord MacKay well in his retirement, and thanks him for his many years of service in public life.
