That the Parliament welcomes Clean Air Day on 16 June 2022, which is an annual awareness day to tackle air pollution and promote cleaner air to improve health and wellbeing; understands that poor air quality can cause or exacerbate existing lung conditions for hundreds of thousands of people living in Scotland; notes that Clean Air Day is organised by the Global Action Plan and Environmental Protection Scotland, with funds from the Scottish Government; supports the work around Clean Air Day to educate on and inform of the impacts of poor air quality and recognises what it sees as the important collaboration with schools across Scotland to promote healthier and active forms of transport; understands that Asthma + Lung UK Scotland polling shows that almost eight in 10 people in Scotland support action against idling at school gates, and notes calls from Asthma + Lung UK Scotland and other leading organisations to accelerate work towards tackling the climate crisis to protect public health and limit environmental damage.
