  • Submitted by: Emma Harper, South Scotland, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 31 May 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-04624

That the Parliament congratulates Dumfries and Galloway-based manufacturer, Alpha Solway, which is part of the Globus group, on winning Manufacturer of the Year at the 2022 Made in Scotland Awards; understands that Alpha Solway, a leading UK manufacturer of personal protective equipment with three sites in Dumfries and Galloway, has, amongst other activities, changed its production model over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic to supply medical grade face coverings to Scotland’s health and social care workforce and that, recently, Alpha Solway has created clear, medical grade face overrings, which are used in health and social care settings in Scotland to help those who are hard of hearing; thanks Alpha Solway for its contribution to Scotland’s efforts to reduce the spread of COVID-19, for what it sees as its huge contribution to the local economy of Dumfries and Galloway, and for everything that it does in the personal protective equipment field, and wishes all the team at Alpha Solway, including Chief Executive, Steven Binnie, all the very best for the future.
