  • Submitted by: Stuart McMillan, Greenock and Inverclyde, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 23 March 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-03673

That the Parliament commends 19-year-old, Molly Cuddihy from Gourock and her best friend, Sara Millar, on setting up a new charity, Every Thank You Counts, raising over £300,000 to open a special room in the children’s hospital for children aged eight to 12 years old to relax while they are in hospital for months at a time for treatment; applauds Molly and Sara for staging what it sees as a hugely successful charity ball to say thank you to the team in the Schiehallion ward who, it understands, have worked to save Molly’s life after she was diagnosed with metastatic Ewing’s Sarcoma when she was 15 years old; understands that the pair used part of the funds to purchase a blood analyser for Schiehallion; further understands that Molly and Sara worked with the hospital project officer, James Huddleston and interior designer Louisa MacRae to design the room; believes that this new facility will make a big difference to child patients who are too young to benefit from the Teenage Cancer Trust room at the hospital, and wishes Molly all the best as she continues to receive cancer treatment at the Beatson.
