That the Parliament marks the 51st anniversary of Bangladesh Independence Day on 26 March 2022; understands that this day marks the declaration of Bangladesh's independence from Pakistan in 1971; remembers those who, it believes, laid down their lives for the freedom and independence of Bangladesh during its war of independence; celebrates the economic and cultural ties between Bangladesh and the UK; notes the contribution to society of the Bangladeshi community in Scotland; further notes what it sees as the importance of the relationship with the UK to the economic and political development of Bangladesh; recognises what it sees as the challenges that Bangladesh faces in dealing with the impact of climate change; further recognises what it sees as Bangladesh’s contribution to the COP26 summit in Glasgow, and looks forward to strengthening bilateral ties and meeting shared challenges in years to come.
