  • Submitted by: Kenneth Gibson, Cunninghame North, Scottish National Party.

  • Motion reference: S6M-01806

That the Parliament congratulates the Wee Deli in West Kilbride on winning the Best Takeaway in Scotland at the Scotland Business Awards 2020; understands that the award is a competition in which the public can nominate businesses in 16 local qualifying stages, which are then independently assessed; notes that the rescheduled 2020 Grand Final was the largest awards night so far; is aware that the Wee Deli sells wholesome, homemade food on the premises and at local farmers’ markets; acknowledges that it is best known locally for its pâté and soups; recognises that it was nominated for the award through being crowned Best Takeaway in Ayrshire in 2019; believes that this result is a well-deserved reward for the staff's and the proprietor, Gillian Wilson’s, hard work and dedication, especially throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and wishes everyone at the Wee Deli continued success in their future endeavours.
