To ask the Scottish Government what steps it is taking to raise awareness of ovarian cancer, and what plans it has to launch a public awareness campaign.
Answer
Through the Detect Cancer Early programme, the Scottish Government aims to increase the proportion of cancers that are detected at the earliest stages and includes increasing awareness of the symptoms of ovarian Cancer.
Our social marketing strategy and the latest ‘Survivors’ campaign aims to reduce fear of all cancer, which we know remains a key barrier to people presenting early and encourage those with any unusual or persistent changes to their body to visit their GP practice. The Scottish Government has had social media activity for ovarian cancer month including linking to case studies and highlighting the symptoms.

To ask the Scottish Government what support it gave to charities and councils to help homeless people over the festive period.
Answer
The Scottish Government has committed an extra £354,000 of funding to support a wide range of initiatives to tackle rough sleeping and homelessness during this winter in various parts of Scotland. This includes flexible emergency funding, which empowers frontline workers to act immediately and directly in the interests of the person they are working with to prevent rough sleeping.
Among other things, it also includes an outreach contingency fund which will support third sector partners in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Ayrshire to provide additional outreach, allowing extra checks to be made and additional support given at times of extreme weather.

To ask the Scottish Government what instructions it will now give to the Scottish Roads Partnership to erect noise fencing and other mitigation on the M74 due to the increased noise levels identified in recently published noise data.
Answer
Under the terms of the contract, Scottish Road Partnership (SRP) is required to ensure that, upon completion of the works, noise levels at adjacent locations to the roads constructed or improved as part of the M8 M73 M74 Motorway Improvements Project are no greater than those recorded in a pre-construction noise survey.
With regard to the recently published noise data referred to in your question, SRP will make contact with any property which meets specified criteria and that may be eligible for noise insulation in accordance with the Noise Insulation (Scotland) Regulations 1975 to take this forward.
In addition, SRP is in the process of undertaking a post-construction noise survey which is expected to be complete in the coming months, subject to weather. Should the noise levels from the post-construction noise assessment exceed the levels in the pre-construction noise assessment or those reported in the Environmental Statement, SRP is required to investigate, design and construct appropriate mitigation measures as appropriate, the cost of which will be met by SRP.
Transport Scotland and its site representatives will continue to monitor SRP’s completion of its obligations in this regard.

To ask the Scottish Government whether it has been consulted by the UK Government on achieving comprehensive parity across broad issues of support for people infected and affected by contaminated blood and blood products; how many meetings have been held on this issue and who attended; whether proposals on how to achieve parity were presented or discussed at any of these meetings, and, in light of the UK Government indicating that new money will be made available to Scotland to achieve parity in terms of regular payments to infected people, with a commensurate uplift in support to widow and widowers, whether this money has been made available and, if so, when it will be utilised.
Answer
There has been one ministerial meeting on the issue of parity, with representation from all of the four UK nations and some further, informal discussions have also been held at official level, although no proposals have yet been presented. The Scottish Government is willing to discuss how we can increase parity between the four UK schemes, but we need to ensure each scheme retains the flexibility to reflect the needs of its own beneficiaries and to ensure the Scottish Infected Blood Support Scheme can continue to reflect the principles agreed by both the Financial Review Group (in 2015) and the Clinical Review of the impacts of chronic hepatitis c (in 2018).
The Scottish Government is not aware of any commitment from the UK Government to provide additional funding for the Scottish Infected Blood Support Scheme.
