Budget Scrutiny 2023-24
Background
The Health, Social Care and Sport Committee undertook budget scrutiny for 2023-24.
Over the course of this inquiry, we looked to understand:
- whether the spending increases proposed in the Scottish Government’s Resource Spending Review will meet the challenges facing health and social care over the next four years
- how the Scottish Government can use its resources to ensure NHS Scotland meets its ambitions “to become a service which is both environmentally and socially sustainable”
- how the Scottish Government has acted regarding preventative care and how should it address the challenge of investing in preventative care while maintaining existing services
- how the health and social care budget can be prioritised to meet National Performance Framework targets, Local Delivery Plan standards and the 'National health and wellbeing outcomes'
