Coronavirus (Recovery and Reform) (Scotland) Bill Scrutiny

Letter from the Criminal Justice Committee regarding its scrutiny of the Coronavirus (Recovery and Reform) (Scotland) Bill

Dear Convener,

I am responding to your recent letter about the work of the COVID-19 Recovery Committee which has been designated lead committee for Stage 1 scrutiny of the Coronavirus (Recovery and Reform) (Scotland) Bill.

You had asked if the Criminal Justice Committee could contribute any relevant evidence it had gathered, by 25 February 2022, which may be of relevance to the COVID-19 Recovery Committee’s scrutiny of the Bill.

As you may be aware, the Criminal Justice Committee plans to take evidence on the justice provisions in the Bill on 23 February, 2 March and 9 March. The Committee hopes to be in a position to report to your committee on the justice provisions in the Bill shortly after 23 March 2022. In the meantime, all the oral evidence gathered by the Committee will appear on the Committee’s website and I will ask the committee clerks to ensure that any additional written evidence received by the Committee is passed to your clerking team.

I hope this is helpful background information about the work of the Criminal Justice Committee. I look forward to working with you on the scrutiny of this significant piece of legislation.

Best wishes,

Audrey Nicoll MSP
Convener,
Criminal Justice Committee
