Official Statistics (Scotland) Amendment Order 2019 [draft]

  1. The Committee took evidence on the Official Statistics (Scotland) Amendment Order 2019 [draft] from Kate Forbes, Minister for Public Finance and Digital Economy at its meeting on 19 November 2019. The Official Report will be available on the Committee's website.

  1. This Order amends the Official Statistics (Scotland) Order 2008 by adding seven additional bodies to the list of specified producers of official statistics.

  1. The seven non-Crown bodies added are: Bòrd na Gàidhlig; Scottish Fire and Rescue Service; Public Health Scotland; NHS Education for Scotland; Scottish Qualifications Authority; Skills Development Scotland, and VisitScotland.

  1. The Committee considered its approach to the Order at its meeting on 5 November 2019 and agreed to write to the Minister to request additional information. The Cabinet Secretary Responded on 11 November 2019.

  1. The Delegated Powers and Law Reform Committee considered the instrument at its meeting on 5 November and agreed that no points arose.

  1. Following evidence, the Minister for Public Finance and Digital Economy moved motion S5M-19756—

    That the Economy, Energy and Fair Work Committee recommends that the Official Statistics (Scotland) Amendment Order 2019 [draft] be approved.

  1. The motion was agreed to without debate or dissent.
