I say to Mr Brown that the reason why the position of the UK is so poor in comparison with that of other countries is that, of the G7 countries, Germany, France, the United States, Canada and Japan have all recovered to their pre-recession levels of economic activity. Only the UK and Italy have failed to reach their pre-recession levels of activity.
