Supported by: Stewart Stevenson*, Bill Kidd*, Richard Lyle*, Kenneth Gibson* *S5M-20781 Maureen Watt: Bowel Screening Uptake in the North East—That the Parliament welcomes encouraging statistics released by Information Services Division (ISD) showing that more people in north east Scotland are taking part in bowel screening tests compared to the national average; understands that, compared with the national average of 61.1%, the average uptake for bowel screening in NHS Grampian is 67.1%; notes that, in the health board area, 64.3% of eligible men and 69.9% of eligible women were screened, with a total of 191,698 eligible people screened in Grampian up to 30 April 2019; recognises that bowel cancer is the third most commonly-occurring cancer in Scotland, and the second most common cause of death from the disease, and urges all eligible people to participate in a test to ensure early detection and treatment as soon as possible.
