Supported by: Jeremy Balfour*, Tess White*, Sandesh Gulhane*, Murdo Fraser*, Pam Duncan- Glancy*, Michael Marra*, Paul Sweeney* *S6M-06881 Stuart McMillan: Inverclyde Libraries Wins Project Excellence Award—That the Parliament congratulates Inverclyde Libraries on winning The Scottish Library and Information Council’s (SLIC) Project Excellence Award for its involvement in the Climate Beacons programme, which was a Scotland-wide collaborative project between climate change or environmental organisations and arts, heritage or cultural organisations to stimulate long-term public engagement in the lead-up to and following COP26; understands that the SLIC described Inverclyde Libraries’ work as "inspirational" in the way it grew the sense of community by linking the "local" to the "global"; recognises that staff did this by hosting author events that involved members of the community, including those in the prison population, who are not often included in climate conversations, and contributed to the circular economy through lend-and-mend-hubs; understands that the judging panel felt that the project was "a powerful and cohesive project that acts as a model for others"; believes that this praise reflects the dedication of library staff to develop programmes and activities designed to engage people from all parts of the community, and thanks them for their continued efforts to support Inverclyde’s communities.
