The Executive's memorandum tells us: "a modernisation at some future date of the formula that determines each Home Country's share cannot be ruled out."
I hope that the committee will agree to endorse it and invite officials on both sides to work through the remaining stages of the process and come up with a workable model that can be introduced by the target date specified in the paper. Are members agreed?
As Sharon Duncan said, it seems as though the council uses figures that meet its own needs, as opposed to reporting the most up-to-date and accurate figures that are available to it.
Telecommunications Developments We now move on to the sixth agenda item, which concerns telecommunications developments. The closing date for responses to the Scottish Executive consultation document is 16 February.
Our thanks go to the committee clerks for their guidance and unfailing good humour.Much of the committee's work to date has been about laying the foundations for the future conduct of Parliament and its members.
I imagine that we will aim to complete the draft report for that date, rather than for next Tuesday. I will put discussion of the report on the agenda for next Tuesday, just in case it is ready.
