All answers to written parliamentary questions are available on the Parliament's website, the search facility for which can be found at http://www.scottish.parliament/webapp/wa.search.I am advised that results from predictive genetic tests, which search genes for mutations, cannot be used by insurers to set premiums, unless the test has been approved by the Genetics and Insurance committee. To date, the only test approved by that Committee is for Huntington’s disease, for life insurance policies over £500,000.I understand the Human Genetics Commission and Genetics and Insurance Committee are considering future developments in predictive testing for genetic conditions.
