Overview
As introduced, this Bill would require the police to have a code of ethics, make changes relating to the handling of police conduct, increase the functions of the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner and introduce an advisory board for the Commissioner.
Part 2 of the Bill replaces the common law rules on tacit relocation with a new statutory code and modifies and updates the rules on giving notice of the termination of a lease.
Sections 2 and 3 - Ethics of the police
The Criminal Justice Committee welcomed the introduction of a statutory obligation for Police Scotland to have a code of ethics, and the introduction of a duty of candour.
