That might be the case because people are being encouraged to use public transport more; it may also be related to the recession. Many people out there have been made redundant—I think that that applies in Edinburgh, because as I came here today I saw all the “to let” and “for sale” boards on offices, which is not encouraging at all.

I have not addressed Peebles in detail, but I would like to. The SSI will contain various dates for the proposed closures. However, we will have to explore with the Cabinet Secretary for Justice and his officials the technicalities of what one can do with the SSI that I call an omnibus because it has all the courts in it.

The compromise that is offered is that a summer fishery, with dates to be agreed by Marine Scotland, would be allowed, with the same class of vessel that is permitted to fish at the mouth of the loch, which I believe is anything under 75 tonnes.

NFUS has supported the effort that we have put into addressing the concerns that were raised about rural crime, and it has shown leadership in bringing those issues up and supporting our efforts with expertise and financially, and that has been hugely appreciated and very effective to date. NFUS would be a welcome partner as far as I am concerned.

During my involvement with the service, if a young person has needed something to help them to access their learning, that has been supplied as soon as possible.
