The issue of council tax is the hot topic of the moment and is causing considerable unrest among older people in England and Wales, who are currently experiencing what they perceive to be massive rises in their council tax payments.We believe that Scots pensioners have been suffering a much higher cost for more than 10 years consistently across council tax bands when measured against comparable properties in England. Despite that, pensioners in Scotland have to pay those bills out of the same amounts of pensions and benefits that are awarded throughout the United Kingdom—there is no Scotland weighting.
