To ask the Scottish Government, in light of the reported 1.3% fall in sales in October 2012, whether it will reconsider the public health levy. S4O-01564
We have a card shop that has suddenly decided that it wants to pay the BID levy and get the benefits of being in the BID, but it is now having to pay £2,000 to cover the last four years of unpaid levy before it can get to the point of starting to pay its levy for this year.
So much of our public treasury is derived from taxes that are levied on income that is generated from waged employment and from profits that are generated from economically advantageous and productive activity.
It is then for employers, including the Scottish Government, to decide whether to pass the levy on to their employees. He makes a point regarding the public control of buses.
When we know what the situation is, we will try to ensure that we use the levy as positively as possible, to enhance and build on the work that we are doing in the area.
