Other new and altered motions and amendments *S6M-13169 Monica Lennon: Celebrating 100 Years of the Young Women’s Movement — That the Parliament celebrates the 100th birthday of the Young Women’s Movement; understands that the Young Women's Movement traces its history back to 1924, when the Scottish Council seceded from the Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) of Great Britain and formed YWCA Scotland; notes that the Young Women’s Movement is Scotland’s national organisation for young women’s leadership and rights; recognises what it considers to be the important role that the Young Women’s Movement plays by delivering research, programmes, training and safe spaces for young women and girls to explore their unique experiences and identities; welcomes the introduction of a new tartan, created by a young woman designer, to represent the rich diversity of young women and girls in the movement; recognises what it sees as the significance of this birthday as a step towards gender equality and the empowerment of young women in leadership roles in Scotland; congratulates the Young Women’s Movement on hosting its birthday reception at Edinburgh City Chambers, and wishes it the best in continuing its work on furthering gender equality and creating a society in which everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
