The total number of cases and the population incidence of TB in Scotland have remained relatively stable over recent years (less than 400 cases each year and an incidence less than eight per 100,000).
These are known as the ORCON standards. In Scotland, to ensure that the standards reflected local demography, they were applied based on local authority areas.
