However, that was not the point of the levy. The point of the levy was to reduce consumer demand and the resultant harms that come from the excess use of single-use carrier bags.
Does the First Minister agree that it is time that the United Kingdom Government scrapped the apprenticeship levy? The apprenticeship levy was introduced back in April 2017, with no consultation of the Scottish Government, despite apprenticeships and skills being devolved.
Will she look again at that levy? It could help to fund third sector groups at local level to try and fight the issues caused by drink-related problems.
The fund provides funding to UK Apprenticeship Levy-payers and SMEs in Scotland which they can use to access flexible workforce development training opportunities.

The Flexible workforce Development Fund is now open to all employers, with up to £15,000 per year available for UK Government Apprenticeship Levy payers and £5,000 for SMEs to support workforce development supporting business growth.
