Part 1 of the Bill provides for the introduction of a power (in section 1(1)) to enable Scottish Ministers to continue to keep devolved law aligned with EU law so far as appropriate following the end of the implementation period (31 December 2020) provided for in the European Union (Withdrawal Agreement) Act 2020 After the end of the implementation period there is no requirement to continue to comply with EU law because the UK is no longer a member state of the EU.
